Calgary-Based Movers Specializing in Cross-Country Relocations

Moving home is one of the most demanding things a family goes through. There’s the packing, the scheduling, the worry about damage, and the pressure of making sure everything arrives where it should on time and in one piece.

At Real Estate Movers, we’ve been handling residential moves in Calgary since 2012. What started with small apartment moves has grown into a full residential moving operation covering local Calgary relocations, Alberta moves, and cross-country relocations to any province in Canada.

We’ve moved over 1,000 Canadian families and built our reputation on one simple principle we treat your belongings the same way we’d treat our own. We’re a CAM-certified moving company (Canadian Association of Movers), a HomeStars Best of the Best award winner with a 97% rating, and a BBB-accredited business.

When you book with us, you’re working with a crew that shows up on time, wraps your furniture properly, and gives you a flat-rate quote with no hidden fees. Whether you’re moving out of a condo in Beltline, relocating a family home in Tuscany, or planning a long-distance move from Calgary to Vancouver or Toronto, our team handles it from start to finish.

Who We Are

Calgary's Trusted Residential Movers Since 2012

Real Estate Movers started in Calgary with small one-bedroom apartment moves. Over the past 12+ years, we’ve grown into one of Calgary’s most reviewed residential moving companies handling everything from 2-bedroom condos to 5-bedroom family homes, locally and across Canada.

Here’s what that experience looks like in practice. Our crews know that a downtown Calgary high-rise requires elevator booking and strict building move-in windows. A family home in Mahogany needs a different truck size and crew count than a Beltline apartment.

A long-distance move from Calgary to Toronto requires proper blanket-wrapping on every piece of furniture, strategic loading to prevent shifting over 3,400 km of highway, and a delivery timeline you can actually plan around.

We don’t subcontract your move to strangers. The same crew that loads your belongings in Calgary delivers them at the destination.

DESTINATION INSIGHT

Local Residential Moving Services in Calgary and Surrounding Communities

Most Calgary moves happen within the city itself upgrading from an apartment to a house, downsizing after the kids leave, or simply moving from one neighbourhood to a better fit. These moves feel straightforward until moving day arrives and you’re dealing with elevator booking windows, street parking restrictions, narrow hallways, or a 3,500 sq ft home that needs to be emptied and reloaded in a single day.

At Real Estate Movers, we complete 99% of our local Calgary moves in one day regardless of home size. A 2-bedroom apartment or a 3,500 sq ft family home, it gets done the same day. We adjust the crew size to match the job — 2, 3, 4, or 5 movers depending on what’s needed, so the move doesn’t drag into the evening or carry over to a second day.

Common Local Moving Scenarios We Handle

Downtown Calgary, Beltline, East Village, and Kensington buildings all have their own move-in and move-out policies. Most high-rise buildings require elevator bookings with fixed time windows, typically 4 hours. We plan around those windows. Floor runners go down first, door jambs get padded, and the crew works within your building’s timeline so you don’t risk fines from property management for going over.

A house in Mahogany, Tuscany, Seton, or Evergreen involves more volume than an apartment move. Larger furniture, garages full of equipment, and sometimes a washer and dryer that needs disconnecting and reconnecting. Our trucks come with the tools to disassemble and reassemble beds, dining tables, wardrobes, and large appliances. Nothing gets left behind because it didn’t fit.

Moving from a larger home to a smaller space requires decisions on what comes and what goes. Our crew works with you on placement so furniture ends up in the right room from the start, not stacked in a hallway for you to sort out later.

First home purchase after years of renting, or moving from a townhouse to a detached home. These moves often involve a mix of old furniture being left behind and new pieces arriving — our team coordinates around that without making your moving day more complicated than it needs to be.

MOVING ACROSS CANADA

Long-Distance Moving from Calgary to Any Province

Long-distance moving is where Real Estate Movers built its reputation. We’ve been running cross-country and interprovincial moves out of Calgary, and it remains our core specialty. If you’re relocating to British Columbia, Burlington, Cambridge, Edmonton, Saskatchewan, or anywhere else in Canada this is what we do every week, not occasionally.

The difference between a local move and a long-distance one isn’t just distance. It’s wrapping, loading strategy, driver hours, highway conditions, and a delivery window that someone on the other end is counting on. A 2-bedroom condo being moved from Calgary to Burnaby will be on the road for the better part of a day. A 4-bedroom house going from Calgary to Toronto will take several days across the Trans-Canada. Every piece of furniture needs to be wrapped properly before that journey starts — not just protected, but secured so nothing shifts through hundreds of construction zones between here and the destination.

One thing that matters and rarely gets mentioned: the same crew that loads your belongings in Calgary is the crew that delivers them. We don’t subcontract your move to a third party at the destination. What gets loaded here gets unloaded by the same people who packed it which is why our quotes match our invoices.

Why Us

Why Choose Real Estate Movers For Your Calgary Residential Move?

What makes your move unique

What's Included in Every Real Estate Movers Residential Move?

Every residential move we handle includes the same baseline regardless of home size or distance. The truck arrives equipped moving blankets, bed bags, 2 and 4-wheel dollies, shoulder straps, furniture slides, floor runners, and a full tool kit for disassembling and reconnecting furniture and appliances. Nothing is charged as an extra for standard equipment. It comes with the crew. Beyond that baseline, we offer four distinct services that can be added depending on what your move requires. Each one is separate packing is not the same as furniture handling, and storage is not the same as transportation. Here is what each service covers and when it makes sense to use it.

Professional Packing and Unpacking

Packing is available as a full service or partial service. Full packing means our team handles everything in the home every room, every drawer, every shelf and has it boxed, labelled, and move-ready before loading day. Partial packing means we handle specific areas or item types while you manage the rest.

For homes over 1,400 sq ft, we recommend booking packing on a separate day from the move itself. Packing and loading on the same day for a larger home adds hours to the job and increases the chance of rushed work. A dedicated packing day keeps both jobs clean.

Materials we use and why they matter:

  1. Standard bubble wrap — cushioning for glassware, lamps, decorative items, and ceramics
  2. Anti-static bubble wrap — used specifically for electronics, stereo systems, and household appliances where static discharge can cause damage.
  3. Packing paper — wrapping for dishes, cookware, and items that can’t have bubble wrap touching their surface directly
  4. Moving blankets — furniture surfaces, mirrors, framed artwork
  5. Mattress bags — full enclosure for all mattresses on every move, local or long-distance
  6. Cardboard boxes — uniform sizes so they stack evenly in the truck without collapsing

Every box gets labelled with its contents and the room it belongs to. When the truck arrives at the destination, boxes go directly into the right room the crew doesn’t need to ask where everything goes, and you don’t spend the first day redirecting traffic. Unpacking is available on request. Our team removes contents from boxes, places items where you want them, and removes packing materials from the home.

Furniture Disassembly, Wrapping and Reassembly

Large furniture cannot always be moved as a single piece. Bed frames, sectional sofas, large wardrobes, dining tables, and wall units are typically disassembled before loading. This protects the furniture from stress damage during the move and makes it possible to get large pieces through doorways, stairwells, and elevator openings without forcing them.

When disassembly happens, hardware bolts, screws, brackets, cam locks goes into labelled bags that stay with the piece. Nothing gets lost between the old address and the new one. At the destination, furniture is reassembled and placed in the room you want it. Beds are set up. Tables are put back together. Wardrobes are rebuilt. If the washer and dryer need disconnecting at the old address and reconnecting at the new one, our crew handles that too the tool kit on every truck covers appliance connections.

Furniture surfaces are wrapped in moving blankets before loading. On long-distance moves, pieces get 2 to 3 layers depending on the item a lacquered dining table needs more protection than a metal bed frame. Stretch wrap goes over the blankets on upholstered pieces to keep the padding in place throughout the journey.

Residential Storage Solutions During Your Move

Sometimes possession dates don’t align. Your move-out date arrives before your new home is ready. Or you’re downsizing and need time to decide what stays. In these situations, Real Estate Movers stores your belongings using the same trucks and trailers that handle the move your items don’t transfer to an unknown third-party facility.

Short-term storage covers the gap between move-out and move-in, typically days to a few weeks. Long-term storage is available for customers who need extended time before their belongings are delivered renovations, delayed possession, or staged moves where part of the household goes to storage and part goes directly to the new address.

Items in storage remain wrapped and secured the same way they were prepared for the move. When your delivery date is confirmed, the crew brings everything to your new home and unloads it as part of the original job. If your move involves a storage gap, mention it when you request your quote storage is factored into the plan from the start, not added as a surprise.

Which Option Is Right for You?

Dedicated vs Consolidated Moving

For long-distance residential moves, there are two transportation options. Understanding the difference helps you choose based on your budget, timeline, and home size.

Dedicated truck means the truck is assigned exclusively to your move. It loads at your address in Calgary and drives directly to your destination without stops. The delivery window is tighter and more predictable. This option suits larger households — 3 bedrooms and above — or anyone with a firm delivery deadline such as a job start date or school enrollment.

Consolidated move means your shipment shares truck space with other customers moving in the same direction. Items are separated and secured individually. The delivery window is broader because the truck follows a route that serves multiple customers. This option works well for smaller households — 1 to 2 bedrooms — where the cost saving is meaningful and a flexible delivery window is acceptable.

Dedicated Truck vs Consolidated Move
Feature Dedicated Truck Consolidated Move
Best For 3+ bedroom homes, fixed deadlines 1–2 bedroom homes, flexible timeline
Delivery Window Tighter, more predictable Broader, route-dependent
Cost Higher Lower
Direct Route Yes — loads and delivers to your address only Shared route with other stops along the way

Specialized Residential Moving Services for High-Value and Fragile Household Items

Most household moves include at least one item that needs handling beyond standard wrapping and loading. A piano, a gun safe, a treadmill, antique furniture, a motorcycle these items have different weight distribution, structural vulnerabilities, or access challenges that require specific equipment and a crew that knows what they’re doing before the item moves an inch. Real Estate Movers handles specialty items as part of the move. Some carry an additional fee due to the equipment and time involved. All of them are quoted upfront there are no surprise charges added on moving day.

Transparent Residential Moving Costs

One of the biggest concerns homeowners face before moving is cost uncertainty. Many people worry about hidden charges or unclear pricing structures. Our residential moving services in Calgary focus on transparency so customers understand exactly how moving costs are calculated before the move begins. Several factors influence the total cost of a residential move. The distance between locations plays a major role, especially for long-distance relocations across Canada. The size of the household also matters because larger homes require more packing materials, additional movers, and larger trucks. The number of boxes, furniture pieces, and appliances also affects the overall transportation requirements. Additional services such as packing, unpacking, and storage can influence the final moving cost as well. Seasonal demand can also impact pricing because summer months are typically the busiest time for residential relocations in Canada.

To provide accurate pricing, we offer free in-home or virtual moving estimates. A moving specialist reviews the size of your home, evaluates the items being moved, and provides a detailed estimate that reflects the actual work involved. This clear process allows homeowners to plan their relocation budget with confidence.
